Add licensing to your software with a few REST calls
The NetLicensing REST API is the licensing backend for your software: validate licenses, manage products, licensees and licensing models, and sell through a hosted shop and customer portal. It works with any language and platform over HTTPS, with XML or JSON responses.
Test every endpoint live in your browser – the demo account needs no sign-up.
The demo account is already signed in. Use Authorize in the explorer to switch to your own vendor account or API key.
Frequently asked questions
How do I test the NetLicensing API without an account?
Use the public demo account: username demo, password demo. It is pre-filled in the Test Center, so you can run any request with “Try it out” right away.
How does NetLicensing API authentication work?
HTTP Basic authentication, either with vendor account username and password, or with the literal username apiKey and an API key as password.
Which response formats does the NetLicensing API return?
XML by default. Send the header Accept: application/json to get JSON (select the media type next to a response in the explorer). Signed responses (XML-DSig) are only available as XML.
How do I validate a license with the NetLicensing API?
Send POST /licensee/{licenseeNumber}/validate to https://go.netlicensing.io/core/v2/rest with form-encoded validation parameters such as productNumber or productModuleNumber. The response lists one ProductModuleValidation item per validated module.
